Qype does salad at Chop'd

Yeah yeah, so you’re all about the steaky meat-ups and burrito eating and more chocolate tastings than you can shake one of those pointy insulin pens at. But when salad masters Chop’d asked Qype to join forces with their new branch in Selfridges Food Hall, even we were intrigued. How cool can salad be? Well actually, pretty damn cool.
Chop’d invited a bunch of lovely Qypers and food bloggers to their stand last night, and then sneakily plied us with yummy wine (see? Salad is sounding cool already). Before the big event, everyone gave Chop’d a list of salad ingredients to make their very own personal salad. Then we tried each one, and get this: The winner gets to have their salad named after them AND sold in Chop’d! Yay!
Here’s some of the photos from last night:

This is Eddie. He whipped up our salads.

Jenny from The Style Pa looking rather pretty.

Yummy fresh stuff on the Chop’d counter.

Mmmm… salad.
And the winner? Qype’s very own Mseasons! She’s got a food blog too y’know – the wonderfully named Om Nom London. Her recipe will be sold in Chop’d (starting with the Selfridge’s branch first) starting in the next two weeks. It was really very yummy indeed and the whole thing was polished off by everyone. If the salad is a hit it might just end up a permanent fixture in all seven branches across London. Then Mel will be a little bit famous, at least in the salad world. Here’s her yummy salad.

If you can’t wait until the salad is officially in store, and you want to try out her recipe, here’s what you’ll need to ask for in your Chop’d salad:
The Om Nom Salad
Base:
Deli leaves
House Items
Caramlised onions
Spiced chickpeas
Sundried tomatoes
Olives
Deli items
Chorizo
Garnish
Chilli
Dressing
Lemon juice

Mel and Eddie!
It was the clear winner (although after all the yummy noises last night, you might be seeing an awful lot of chickpeas popping up in salads – they were in nearly every recipe we tried). The Food Hall is the perfect place for Chop’d who still manage to keep most of their salads under a fiver, despite being surrounded by some of the most expensive (and most yummy) food in London. They have indeed, made salad rather cool.
You can see the rest of the photos here. Thanks to Chop’d for a great evening!

Well done Mel.
I went through a phase of buying their parma ham and mozzarella salad almost every day. Salads can be addictive.

[...] What turned out to be quite the girly evening was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed meeting my fellow food bloggers. An evening to discuss food and enjoy a glass of wine is always a winner, I think. Read what other bloggers are saying about the event at Melanie’s om nom London blog and the Qype does London blog.
