Mind the Gap Women's Art Movement

British artist duo The Girls are among the 30 UK and international women artists exhibiting in a Women’s Art Movement (WAM) show in an atmospheric pre-Victorian crypt in Euston. The theme of the group exhibition, curated by artist Marie Maynard, is based loosely on the taboos surrounding depression, creating an uplifting, confrontational and subtle reflection on the illness.
The Women’s Art Movement is a London-based non-profit community group which provides support and resources in the field of creative, educational and commercial arts for women.

“Many lives are enriched through the collaboration of females exhibiting experimental artistic disciplines, confronting contemporary issues, social diversities and challenging the understanding of female representation within society.”
The Girls are Andrea Blood and Zoë Sinclair, whose practice focuses on creating private surreal staged tableaux and recording them as self-portrait photography or video. Their collaboration began in 1996 at Central Saint Martins, after a seven year hiatus, The Girls began making new work in 2006.
