Would you like a roll with that?

Gambling, generally, sucks. I have no idea whether Darlington are a form team, whether Leeds Rhinos are good for a 13-point spread, or if a full house is better than a straight. As for craps, what the hell is that about?

The only bit of die-rolling I understand – and how’s that for a link? – is the Coach & Horses’ deal for Saturdays through November.

We’re a little bit fond of The Coach at Qype. While there’s (possibly justified) backlash against the rise of the gastropub (“we’ve put in stripped pine tables, so it’s now £15 for bangers and mash”) The Coach is different. For starters, it hasn’t forgotten the ‘pub’ bit: it’s still a lovely, old-fashioned drinking establishment, just one with a very nice dining room attached. And anyone who serves hot Scotch Eggs where the yolk is still runny is very alright in our book.

Young chef Henry Herbert has an impressive way with seasonal British fare and breads (he’s a fifth generation baker). He also cures his own charcuterie. He’s a talented chap, is Henry, as is evident from the excellent bar snacks – and stand by for details of January’s “Scotch Egg Masterclass” Guru Event with Henry – to the “proper” sit down stuff. Qypers can now test it all out on Saturdays in November AND save at least 10 percent off the bill.

At the end of the meal, you’ll be presented with a die. Roll a 1, you get 10 percent off your food bill. Roll a 2, it’s a 20 percent saving. Roll a 3… well, you get the point, all the way up to a possible whopping 60 percent discount.

The Coach  & Horses have kindly reserved 20 spaces for QYPE users on Saturday 14th, 21st and 28th November. Feeling lucky? Call 020 7278 8990, quote the QYPE deal… and get rolling.
