HOT OFF THE GRILL: NEW BADGES!

The next set of badges are here and ready for you to start collecting.

This time round it’s all about where you’ve been and what you’ve reviewed. We’ve got badges for fashion victims, badges for karaoke fiends, and even badges for raw fish fanatics.

You can see the full, updated list of badges on this page, and you can check which badges you’ve already earned on your My Badges page.

We’ve also released a few Mystery Badges into the wild. You won’t find these badges listed on the badges page and we’re not telling you how you get them. Instead you’ll have to hunt them down on other people’s profile pages and swap tips with people in this thread to work out what the Mystery Badges are and what you need to do to get your hands on them.
Good luck with your badge collecting, and let us know your ideas for future badges over in the groups.

Qype does cocktails and canapes with Drinksfusion

Last night, a group of Qypers descended on West London, to the tucked away Cobden Club. After a couple of texts to pick up the stragglers who had got a bit lost, our cocktail party really kicked off. The jazz band Louche Lounge Society were there to entertain us. We couldn’t have asked for a more fun event from Drinksfusion. They asked Ketel One to provide us with some yummy vodka for the cocktails.

Drinksfusion did the cocktails at our Supper Club event, but they do food as well, and they wanted to show off what they could do. And they did that very well indeed!

Never have I seen a group of Qypers act more like vultures (that word was used a lot last night). I guess that’s what in season asparagus and salsa verde will do to you. This whole platter was demolished in minutes. Greedy Qypers.

But I was busy following the seared tuna around instead.

Not least because it came with a little watermelon and Ketel One vodka shot. Yums!

There was also super tasty salmon, goats cheese goodness, a roast beef and bloody Mary-asparagus concoction (recipe for those please!) and some very tasty bruscetta.

But dessert was certainly a highlight. Who doesn’t love a chocolate honeycomb martini?

And erm, this is what became of the last of the chocolate fondue after we ran out of fruit…

Thanks to everyone who came! Huge thanks to Johan at Drinksfusion, Robin at The Cobden Club, Ketel One for getting us tipsy and John the pianist for providing us with the straws (and for taking that photo of me and Alex). Want to come along to a Qype event? Head over to our Qypers Love Events forum and make sure you’re on the list for the next one!

London in the sunshine

“Turned out nice again!” Or not. Who in England doesn’t love discussing the weather? “Lot of rain lately,” one could advise a neighbour at the local tube stop if you dared to engage in conversation, as though they hadn’t noticed. We’re still living up to Dr Johnson’s 18th century observation decreeing “when two Englishmen meet, their first talk is of the weather”. Of course it is, because it’s as borderline schizophrenic as our culture. Like this weekend perhaps, when once again the masses clamoured that summer has arrived. Hardly conducive to pottering about in the office staring at multiple applications. Fittingly if not inevitably, the parks were full of all the residual inhabitants prodding suspect pieces of meat on portable barbecues with varying degrees of success while slapping on tanning lotion unevenly.

However, summer fete based activites on Primrose Hill took a distinctly techie direction, as I clocked the Press shop on Erskine Road advertising a Tweeting treasure hunt, defying traditional scraps of papers and quizzical gestures. No, no this treasure hunt was delivered via a series of mysterious tweets here which amassed 300 followers in quick, curious succession.

Not quite sure who won the luxury trove of goodies, but it seems in 2010 Londoners need more than a sausage to satiate these rare, gratifying sunshine days.
