Zombie Women of Satan: Premiere Review @ The Cobden Club

Rewind one month to the surreal premiere of Zombie Women of Satan at the Cobden Club.

Warren Speed (Director) , Michelle Speed (Investor), Kathy Paul (actress) and Vicky Broom (actress)

This was quite something I can tell you, for the first time I witnessed ghoulesque, a ghastly display of live horror and freakshow burlesque from Betty D’Light, Marnie Scarlett and Hell’s Belle.

However it was the sheer theatrical perversity of the Miss Zombie Queen 2010 Beauty Pageant which dominated centre stage. Hosted by Pervo The Clown, also featuring zombie DJs and the very same Cannes zombie promo girls who took the ‘thesp’ capital by storm this May.

Zombie Women of Satan documents the tale of rock singer Skye Brannigan’s quest to find her missing sister who has been abducted by a strange cult. Skye is helped/hindered by bizarre freakshow burlesque troupe Flesharama who get caught up in her quest, as they are attacked from all sides by a vicious gang of marauding sexy zombie women and the crazy Zander family who created them. Expect laughs aplenty, an abundance of OTT violence, lots of blood and guts, strange characters and many gorgeous zombie women.

Blogger Interview: Julie from A Lady in London

We got the low down on what is it’s like to be A Lady in London, from one who travels the world! We know most of you dream about being a travel blogger, so we had a chat with Julie about her success and picked a few tips on exotic destinations.

Qype: Can you tell Qypers who you are and what you do?

Originally from California, I am a London-based travel consultant and travel blogger. I write about life in London and traveling throughout the world on my blog, http://www.aladyinlondon.com, share travel tips and advice on my travel website http://www.visitingeu.com, and help people plan trips all over the world.

Qype: What prompted you to start your blog, and what elements do you think have contributed to it becoming so popular?

I started my blog when I decided to move to London in 2007. I wanted a way to keep in touch with friends and family back home, and to write about the places I visited. After a while I started writing for a broader audience, getting involved in the travel blogging community, and using social media to connect with my readers. I try to engage my audience with written content and photos, and develop a dialogue with them. I travel frequently, so I’m able to write first-hand accounts of both popular and off-the-beaten-path destinations. That keeps the blog fresh, interesting, and relevant.

Qype: What’s your favourite city? And what places should Qypers know about there?

My favorite city is San Sebastian, Spain. I’m a foodie, and the fact that the city has more Michelin stars per capita than any other city in the world is what first drew me to it. But it’s not just restaurants like Arzak and Akelare that make the city worth visiting. The pintxos (tapas) are amazing, too. One of the best ways to spend an evening in San Sebastian is to go pintxo hopping at bars like El Fuego Negro and La Cuchara de San Telmo. Aside from the food, there are great beaches, world-class surfing, hiking, outdoor activities, and beautiful architecture.

Qype: Which place you’ve visited has surprised you the most?

I visited Damascus, Syria in March. Having heard mixed reviews of the city, I didn’t know what to expect. When I arrived I was pleasantly surprised to find some of the friendliest locals I’ve ever met, and the best ice cream in the world. I knew that the city was rich in history, but being there really brought to life all of the civilizations that have passed through Damascus.

Qype: What would your perfect London Sunday consist of? (Let’s assume it’s perfect weather-wise and you have a perfect bank balance).

I would start my Sunday with a walk in Hampstead Heath, possibly the most beautiful place in London. Then I would head down to the Columbia Road Flower Market to see what’s on offer and get some lunch. In the afternoon I would go to an exhibition at the V&A, or just explore the permanent collection since I love it so much. Afterwards I wouldn’t be able to resist a cupcake from Hummingbird Bakery, which would threaten to spoil my dinner at Amaya if I didn’t have such an insatiable appetite for their amazing food. Energy permitting, I would stop by the Holly Bush in Hampstead on the way home to have a pint with friends.

Qype: What top travelling tip would you give to Qypers?

Never check a bag. It is my mantra, and it has made my life much easier over the years. If you’re smart about packing, there’s no destination or length of time that necessitates checking a bag. Traveling with just a carry-on saves a lot of time at airports and a lot of hassle when you’re moving from place to place.

Qype: And the big one – where do you prefer, California or London?

Tough question! The two places are so completely different that it’s hard to even compare them. As such, I will say I prefer the beaches in London and the pubs in California.
